Introduction to Personal Care

You may have reached this point in your life when your health and mobility are not the same as it used to be, you may find it hard to carry out your everyday daily living activities as you once used to perform.

We have designed different care packages for you to choose from that will assist you in your day to day activities, so that you continue to live independently at home.

Our Personal Care service is designed to assist with dressing, feeding, washing and toileting, bathing, shaving or continence care, getting in or out of bed, eating, drinking and taking medication, communicating as well as advice, encouragement, emotional and psychological support, we will do these at a time that suit you.

Maintaining your privacy and dignity is of very important to us, which is why our staff will ensure you feel safe and comfortable at all times.

Our discreet personal care service is designed to support you with your day-to-day living, as well as providing you with the encouragement and emotional support that you may need to remain living independently.

What is included in this service?

Dressing

For most of us, dressing is a very personal and private activity and one in which we are used to making our own decisions. It is important for us to enable you to make your own choices for as long as you can and our staff will assist you tactfully and sensitively.

Fastening buttons and zips, and tying laces are simple processes to most however, for many individuals such things can become impossible tasks. If you need help getting dressed and undressed, you can rely on our Carers to provide support to make things easier for you.

Meal Times

As part of our personal care service, our staff are able to support you with all aspects of meal times. We can assist you with your weekly shopping, tidying your shopping, helping rearranging your fridge and freezer, planning and preparing nutritious meals of your choice and help you with feeding and drinking if your condition does not allow you to do so. Our staff will make sure that they wash and tidy up before they leave your house.

This can include assisting with your weekly shopping, helping with the preparation of your meals, and managing the food in your house.

Washing and Bathing

We are aware how sensitive and embarrassing it is to be undressed in the presence of people. Your dignity is highly valued to us and our experienced staff will assist you in every possible ways to promote your independence while ensuring your safety at all times.

Our carers will be talking to you all the time because we are here to help and we understand how personal this activity is for you. You will be asked for your preference of how you would prefer things to be done, perhaps our gentle costumer prefer shaving before a bath while others would like it after. After all we want you to have a relaxed and pleasant experience.

Toileting and continence care

We understand how sensitive this issue can be for yourself and your carer. We are able to support you whilst preserving your dignity, whether you have a problem with urinal or faecal continence. Your carer will assist you to and from the toilet and attend to your personal hygiene where required for your health and comfort. We will also change your incontinence pads and help with washing or bathing and change of clothing.  Your carer will put the dirty linen for wash before leaving.

Bed Routine

Our staff are able to assist you getting in and out of bed, at a time which suits your own routine. Your carer will respect you choice of the way you prefer things to be done for you before you go to bed, perhaps a night cap or arranging things such as glass of water and reading glasses to be within your reach.

Assistance with Medication

When you suffer from a certain condition or have a disability it is quite easy to forget to take your prescribed medication the way you are supposed to take it, it can therefore aggravate your existing condition or even put your life at risks. All our carers are fully trained to help you with taking your medication correctly and at the right time. If you are disable and you physically need assistance in taking your medication our carer will assist you with your medication by following the prescription or any accompanying Medication Administration Sheet by an approved Pharmacist.

If you use external medication such as cream and ointments our staff can also assist you with them.

Communicating

We believe that talking to people is the best way to maintain your social welfare and trust. During visiting times your carer will be talking to you as a friend and with the utmost respect for you and your family irrespective of your age, race, colour, background, religious or disability. We will ensure that your choices, wishes and preferences remain your priority for us to continue to build a trusting relationship. In addition to taking an interest in how you have been getting on since your carer’s last visit we will make sure that you have all the information you need to contact us for anything you may need, however small.

Household Tasks

Our personal care service also mean that our staff can assist you with various household duties. There may be certain daily living activities which you may perform unaided and others with some assistance. However little it may seem, our staff are always ready to help if and when you need it. We will help you with tasks like light housekeeping duties, tidying wardrobes and cupboards, dusting and vacuuming, drop off and picking up dry cleaning, laundry and ironing. We can assist you to collect your prescriptions, benefits and pensions and paying your bills.
